What is the Motability scheme?
At SLM Toyota we are dedicated to ensuring that we provide a dedicated service, to ensure that all your needs are met when choosing the right vehicle for you.
This is why there is a huge selection of vehicles to chose from, which come with flexible range of finance offers which makes buying a Toyota from us straightforward and most of all affordable.
The Motability Scheme enables people to exchange either their Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance or their War Pensions’ Mobility Supplement to obtain a new car.
Are you eligible?
If you receive either the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance or a War Pensioners Allowance, then the answer is yes, you do qualify for Motability. The only condition is that you have at least 12 months award remaining. There are no credit checks or other restrictions applicable.
There are various options available to you when buying a new or used vehicle, but the most popular scheme is the Motability 3 year Contract Hire. Even if you do not drive, you can still obtain a new vehicle and choose up to two other people to drive for you.
If you are a parent or carer to a child who receives the allowance, you can apply too. If you are a relative or carer to someone who claims the allowance (recognised by the DWP as an appointee), you can apply on their behalf.
The only condition is that the car is used for the benefit of the disabled person. This can involve travelling in the vehicle or a driver running errands for the disabled person.
SLM Toyota has a team of Motability specialists at each of our three sites: Attleborough, Lowestoft and Norwich, who are available to help and advise on any Motability element from what offers are available through to how the scheme works.

Norfolk business, Dingles Toyota celebrates award win for excellent customer service on 13th March 2014 at the Norwich Dealership
Motability customers in Norfolk can be sure of receiving outstanding customer service from local dealer, Dingles Toyota as they celebrated winning a regional award for their work with the Motability Car Scheme. The accolade is part of a new programme to reward local Motability dealerships that provide outstanding customer service in their area.
The new Dealer Awards programme is designed to ensure all Motability customers receive exemplary customer service across the dealer network. The awards are judged on how a dealer delivers the Scheme to customers, which is assessed by customer feedback and reviews of their Motability performance. All winners of the quarterly awards are automatically entered into the new national, annual awards which will be held for the first time in January 2014.
Peter Wilson, General Manager – Dealer Relations at Motability Operations, explains:
"As the ‘shop-front’ of the Motability Scheme and in many cases, the first contact point for our customers, the focus of these awards is to thank our dealer partners for providing an ongoing positive customer service experience. Our customers continually rate the service they receive at the dealership highly but there’s always room for improvement and opportunities to learn from those who are doing it really well, like Dingles Toyota. Many congratulations to them on their award win".
Celebrating their Motability Dealer Award win, John Dingle, Managing Director said:
"We are very pleased and proud to win this Motability Dealer Award. Motability is renowned for its high standards and Dingles is thrilled to be recognised for our dedication to working in partnership with Motability. We look forward to continuing our award-winning approach to business and customer service and we hope to do well in the upcoming annual awards."
Anyone who receives the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance, the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment or the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement can exchange the weekly payment to lease a new car through Motability. Insurance, servicing, RAC breakdown assistance and replacement tyres are included in the cost of the lease.
